Beloved Friends and Colleagues,
The Wesleyan Covenant Association (likely to become a re-named traditional Methodist Church in the relatively near future), has divided the Virginia Annual Conference into regions for the purpose of informing the laity of the UMC, and clergy, of our plans for the new expression of the church.
Casual gatherings are about to take place in each of these regions. Rev. Ben Horrocks from Lane Memorial UMC in Altavista, and myself (Retired Elder, back in service at Corinth UMC, Goochland) have been blessed with the responsibility of church laity from Lynchburg to Lexington and East through Richmond. Anyone who hears about our gatherings will be welcome.
In the area where Ben and I are working, we are inviting people to come to one of four gatherings. The agenda is simple:
Present the hopes and plans of the WCA as the denomination moves toward large-scale changes as early as next spring.
Second, we plan to answer your questions as best we can, in an ethical, friendly way.
Third, we plan to serve warm apple crisp, and chat as you wish.
